Rashida Tlaib dan Ilhan Omar, keduanya dari Demokrat, meraih dukungan saat mereka berkampanye mengenai landasan progresif mengenai kenaikan upah minimum, saran lingkungan hidup dan cakupan perawatan kesehatan untuk semua.

Meskipun telah ada orang Muslim di Kongres sebelum kedua perempuan itu terpilih, keduanya membuat sejarah dengan menjadi Muslimah pertama yang memangku jabatan.
