JAKARTA, KabarMedan.com | Aliansi Jurnalis Independen (AJI) mengungkapkan bahwa pemberitaan soal perempuan di media massa masih didominasi oleh berita-berita bernuansa negatif.

Staf Divisi Perempuan AJI Indonesia, Nani Afrida mengatakan, pemberitaan soal perempuan di media lebih banyak didominasi oleh berita perempuan sebagai korban kekerasan.

“Sedang pemberitaan soal perempuan berprestasi itu lebih sedikit,” ujar Nani, Rabu (9/1/2019).

Selain perempuan sebagai korban, kata Nani, pemberitaan soal perempuan di media banyak berupa gosip.

“Berita-berita yang penting malah dilewatkan, karena dianggap kurang keren,” ujar Nani.

Padahal ada banyak isu lain terkait perempuan yang lebih bermanfaat. Misalnya, berita seputar kebijakan yang berpengaruh bagi perempuan.

Nani menambahkan, ada banyak hal yang bisa jurnalis perempuan lakukan untuk meningkatkan emansipasi jender. Di antaranya, membentuk serikat pekerja, bekerja sama sesama jurnalis perempuan dan memperkuat keterampilan.

“Mengubah stigma stereotip untuk jurnalis perempuan bisa dimulai dari newsroom dan kalangan kita lebih dulu, karena jurnalis perempuan menghadapi tantangan yang lebih banyak ketimbang laki-laki,” ungkap Nani.

Survei yang dilakukan oleh International Federation Journalist (IFJ) mengungkapkan bahwa 66 persen jurnalis perempuan di dunia mengalami pelecehan. Dari jumlah itu, hanya 13 persen kasusnya yang berhasil dibawa ke pengadilan. (Kabarmedan.com
