Salah satu kerabat Kurnia Meiga membantah kabar yang menyebutkan jika penjaga gawang utama Timnas Indonesia itu mengalami kebutaan karena penyakitnya. penyakit yang sedang diderita Kurnia Meiga adalah tipus.
“Mulanya, Meiga disebut-sebut Azizah Hermansyah menderita sakit tifus. Namun, belakangan muncul kabar yang beredar di sosial media bahwa kiper timnas itu juga mengalami kebutaan.
Azizah pun sudah membantah terkait kabar Meiga yang dinyatakan buta. Dia turut mengunggah video di aplikasi instagram terkait aktivitas suaminya, untuk menunjukkan bahwa isu yang beredar tersebut tak benar
Kurnia Meiga sebenarnya sempat dipanggil pelatih Timnas Indonesia, Luis Milla, untuk memperkuat tim Garuda menghadapi Fiji dalam laga ujicoba di Stadion Patriot Candrabhaga Bekasi pada 2 September 2017 lalu. Namun, tanpa keterangan yang jelas, Kurnia Meiga tidak bisa memenuhi panggilan itu dan digantikan oleh kiper Timnas Indonesia U22, Satria Tama.
Terkait apa yang dialami Kurnia Meiga, manajemen Arema FC pun turut memberikan komentar. “Seingat saya, setelah lawan Barito Putera, kondisi Kurnia Meiga drop terus sampai tak ikut latihan. Mulai di hari minggunya, harus mendapatkan perawatan,” kata Manajer Umum Arema FC, Ruddy Widodo.
“Kami manajemen telah berusaha dan berdoa Agar meiga dapat lekas sembuh , agar dapat bergabung dengan rekan-rekan singo edan.tutup nya .
